Amok Wodwo

Amok Wodwo is a personal experimental music project whose aim is to explore and create chimerical landscapes, textured and isolationist atmospheres and, from time to time, walls of noise.
Created in autumn 2017, the project was built around the idea of primarily blending the ambient, drone and noise styles. Being a personal project, no limit is set on the evolution of its moods, styles or musical structure.

Amok Wodwo is the black blood, the one that quickens the beast's heart, the one that flows in the veins of the frenzied, but also the one that spills when the solitary boar's head strikes the ground.
Amok Wodwo is the devouring obsession, the one that drags the zealot down into the abyss, the one that dispels the fears of the condemned, or again the one that whispers in the ear of the possessed.
Amok Wodwo is the forgotten fate, the one hidden from the eyes of the profane, the one that heals all ills and the one that strikes the strong and the weak alike.
A.W. est tanquam alter idem.

Genesis
The project attempts to build a conceptual bridge through its compound name.
Amok: Amok is a word originating from Malaysia that describes the sudden fit of murderous rage that seizes an individual. As if dispossessed of himself, he then hurls himself blindly at everything crossing his path until he collapses from exhaustion or is subdued.
Amok - WikipediaWodwo: The Wodwo is the Wild Man, a creature emblematic of European folklore, often depicted as a man covered in hair, with long hair and a long beard. He embodies both the threat of the untamed unknown and the primal instinct, the original form of freedom that society seeks to erase.
Wild man - WikipediaAmok Wodwo thus seeks to define the concept of a rupture, a loss of self, a return of the human to the wild state, where the Wodwo's primal instinct is unleashed by the fury of amok.
The maxim
Amok Wodwo est tanquam alter idem
It is a derivation of the Latin maxim "Amicus est tanquam alter idem". It extends the idea developed above, according to which the alter ego existing within each of us could one day turn amok and take over.
