Description
• Middle of the second millennium BCE, in Greece. The Minoan eruption of Thera produced a gigantic Tsunami and a colossal cloud of superheated rocks and ashes. This eruption destroyed cities around and is suspected of having caused a volcanic winter in China and apocalyptic rainstorms in Egypt.
• 1883, in Indonesia, the evening skies glowed for months with bizarre colours after a Volcano eruption on the island of Krakatoa.
• 1839 to 1843, in Antarctica, the volcanoes Erebus and Terror were discovered during the Ross Expedition. The first ascent of Mount Erebus was achieved in 1908 during the Nimrod expedition. Later, in 1931, another expedition to the place will end in complete madness.
